When does this poll close?

Interesting that the Smithsonian is not listed as a choice....
pillownaut writes:
@bnmjeff, that is because the Smithsonian already has Space Shuttle Enterprise. This will be moved somewhere else, as yet undetermined, and the Smithsonian will then house Space Shuttle Discovery. All these museums hope to be the lucky ones who house Endeavour and Atlantis! =)
ThaiCurry writes:
I believe that the the two remaining shuttles should be spread out across the United States. The Smithsonian will house Discovery on the east coast while Endeavor should either go to the west coast or the central portion of the states. It only seems right that everybody should have the opportunity to visit a shuttle that is close to them.

They ahve not announced where any of the Flown shuttles will be going yet...supposedly they will be doing so April 12...The Smithsonian deserves a flown-in-space shuttle. Would their exhibiting a boilerplate Apollo capsule be OK, if the real Apollo 11 was shipped elsewhere? Let some out-of-the-way place that did not have an active part in the space program house Enterprise. The Smithsonian deserves the REAL THING...no offense to Enterprise, but Star Trek fans messed up..should have pushed for a space bound shuttle to carry that name..not a testbed vehicle..

I try not to traffic in rumor, but (surprising as it may seem) Bryan is the place to watch. I guess it could happen. They have Pres. GHW Bush pulling for them and NASA loves him.

So Tulsa definetly wants one.:) We have a nice climate controlled building that will be constructed for it, and really look forward to that addition to our Space Center.

The payload bay doors for the orbiters were built in Tulsa and Tulsa has a long history in aerospace manufacturing, including fabricating truss structure for the ISS. It feels right that a piece of Tulsa's space heritage makes its way back home!
