Jack's littermate, Wally, a black labradoodle, and Bill went missing from the 120-acre property on January 12. The two dogs were found and turned into Dogs and Cats Forever, a no-kill shelter in Port St. Lucie, on January 13. On February 16 the couple was told they could pick up Bill at the shelter, but that Wally had been adopted out to a couple in Vero Beach, according to the Casalinos. They couple has been making efforts to bring Wally home, but have not yet been able to do so. 'They are inseperable,' says Marc about Wally and Jack, who are both 'cancer comfort' dogs. 'Jack is lost without Wally. He keeps checking his kennel to see if he's there,' said Marc.

Following the blessing, Searl toasted her birthday with a glass of champagne. Searl turned 105 on Monday, 'but we've been celebrating it for three weeks,' said her granddaughter, Jennifer Searl-Palleschi, an administrator at the center.

  • Sol Holcomb, an Honor Guard member with the American Legion Post 318, in Port St. Lucie, salutes as Dr. Laura Woodworth and Northport K-8 sixth-grade student Michael Gorbach plant a flag in memory of the children who died on September 11, 2001. The flag planting was part of a larger ceremony called 'In Memory of September 11, 2001,' which took place in the school's gymnasium. During the ceremony, Al Hickey, a member of the New York City Police Department who now lives in Port St. Lucie, spoke to students about the attack that occurred 11 years ago.
