— The Florida Highway Patrol recommends for anyone who plans to travel to watch the shuttle launch of Atlantis to allot plenty of time for travel and to expect traffic delays.

FHP will have extra troopers on duty for Friday's planned launch. Road Rangers have been assigned in the area to help with vehicles that need assistance. Drivers can expect traffic delays on State Road 528, Interstate 95, State Road 50, State Road 46, U.S. 1 and U.S. 192.

FHP also offers these reminders:

It is dangerous and illegal to stop and park on the side of a limited access highway (I-95, Beachline, Interstate 4) to view the launch. It is also illegal to drive through the median on these roadways.

Expect traffic delays for several hours post-launch. Dial 511 from your cell phone to get up-to-date traffic information.

Dial *FHP (*347) from your cell phone to reach the FHP.
